Frequently Asked Questions

  • Gospel resilience in church planting is the process and outcome of adapting to difficult circumstances in church planting through the embracing of the truths embodied in the good story of the faithful Hero, Jesus Christ. Parakaleo encourages women to believe and practice the truths of the story, resulting in women feeling seen and loved, being repentant, and experiencing freedom and hope.

This transformation can spill over into the lives of others as she is free to extend the story and the following key characteristics of the story to others: grace, curiosity, forgiveness, support, seeing others, empathy, and love.

  • While others serve women in ministry or equip leaders for church planting, Parakaleo distinctly serves women in the church planting season using a gospel-based approach. We have 20 years of experience walking alongside participants and have seen the fruit.

  • We know that church planting is busy. We recommend that you begin with the learning experience module, “Gaining Perspective.” However, you are free to take a different module, join an Alongside group, follow us on Instagram for encouragement, or reach out to us directly for help.

  • Virtual experiences make our resources accessible and affordable. We create a relational environment that builds trust and guards confidentiality.

  • Alongside Groups are year-long small-group communities that support you through the demanding season of church planting. Sign up for a group if you’re looking for more personalized support.

Learning experiences are four-week dynamic courses that address a particular theme. Sign up for a learning experience to get equipped for your season of ministry.

Both programs are interactive, relational, and supportive.

  • Click our Partners page to find local Parakaleo movements. We aim to add several partners a year. Please stay tuned for updates, or contact us if your church planting network would like to get involved.

  • We offer a 50% no-questions-asked discount for any woman in church planting that needs it. If this still poses a barrier to you, contact us at info@parakaleo.us

  • While all women need to remain grounded in the gospel, church planting ministry is filled with unique challenges that require specific support with women who understand their context.

  • Rather than seek prescriptive solutions to the issues you are facing, we introduce a framework that helps you navigate any challenge. You are free to disclose as much or as little information as you’d like about your specific situation. We keep in confidence what you share and focus on helping you walk by the spirit during challenges.

  • Parakaleo began as a ministry to serve church planters’ wives in the Presbyterian Church in America. We are now a Christian nonprofit organization accountable to our board of directors, which represents several denominations. See our faith statement for more details.

  • Parakaleo programs are designed for women who are involved in starting new churches. Though we have a special emphasis on spouses of church planters, “women in church planting” also include those who serve in some capacity paid or unpaid in a church plant, or a church planting organization such as a network.

Our curriculum addresses the questions and concerns of women that play supportive roles on the team, and who lack access to the fellowship and resources typically available to lead church planters.
